Young, a 6-10 middle blocker from Powell, Ohio, earned First Team All-MIVA a year ago after leading the Buckeyes in blocks (218) and the conference in hitting (.438). He also played a team best 121 sets in 31 starts.Â
Wetzel, a 6-7 outside hitter from Lake Mary, Florida, earned second team All-MIVA honors last season. He is the top returner among the Buckeyes in kills with 344 in 2024. He also added 57 blocks and 134 digs as a sophomore.Â
Both Young and Wetzel were American Volleyball Coaches Association 2024 Honorable Mention All-Americans.
As a team, Ohio State was picked in the No. 3 spot among the nine teams that make up the MIVA in 2025. Ball State was picked in the top spot followed by Loyola Chicago.Â
The Buckeyes open the 2025 season at home against BYU Jan. 3 in the first of a two-game series in Columbus.Â
Kevin Burch is in his sixth year as head coach of the Buckeyes. Ohio State finished with a 22-9 record in 2024 after winning the 2024 MIVA postseason tournament. Ohio State ended the 2024 campaign in the quarterfinals of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in Long Beach, California.Â
Ohio State will host the 2025 NCAA Championship May 8-12 at the Covelli Center, in Columbus.Â
