Spring Season Starts in Ann Arbor this Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 Ohio State women’s tennis team heads to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Michigan Invitational this weekend to kick off its 2025 schedule.
 
The event runs Friday through Sunday, with each team playing a round of singles and a round of doubles each day. Friday, Ohio State will take on Texas Tech in singles at 10 a.m., followed by doubles vs. Michigan at 1 p.m. Saturday opens with doubles vs. the Lady Raiders at 10 a.m. and the Buckeyes will face Michigan State/Eastern Michigan in doubles after. Sunday, Ohio State will go up against players from the Spartans and Eagles in doubles at 10 a.m. and then wrap up the weekend with singles vs. the Wolverines.

Buckeye This and That

• Three Buckeyes are ranked in singles to start the spring campaign – No. 8 Luciana Perry, No. 46 Audrey Spencer and No. 85 Sydni Ratliff.
• Perry is the fourth Buckeye to be ranked in the singles Top 10 by the ITA, joining Francesa Di Lorenzo, Irina Cantos Siemers and Shiori Fukuda.
• Ohio State starts the year No. 15 as a team in the poll. The squad has been ranked in the ITA Top 20 since Jan. 29, 2020.
• Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev has joined the Buckeye squad. The freshman is a native of Manhattan, N.Y.

The Schedule Ahead

• The Buckeyes open the dual season at home Jan. 20 with a doubleheader, as they take on Cleveland State at 10 a.m. and Bellarmine at 4 p.m. inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Admission and parking are free.
• ITA Kickoff Week follows Jan. 24-25, with Ohio State heading to Knoxville, Tenn., for a first-round match vs. N.C. State before taking on Tennessee or Texas Tech. The site winner will earn a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
