COLUMBUS, Ohio — No. 13 Ohio State (2-2) travels to Austin, Texas, this weekend to take part in the 2025 First Point Collegiate Challenge. The Buckeyes face No. 11 Stanford (1-1) Friday before a match against defending national champion and No. 1 ranked UCLA (1-0) Saturday. First serve for both matches is 8 p.m. (ET). ESPN+ will live stream both games as well.
- Ohio State travels to Austin, Texas, to face No. 11 Stanford and No. 1 UCLA in the First Point Collegiate Challenge. Ohio State is playing in the event for the second-consecutive season. The Buckeyes defeated both No. 13 USC and No. 1 UCLA by scores of 3-2 at the event in 2024.
- The schedule at the 2025 First Point Collegiate Challenge has been adjusted. The Buckeyes will face Stanford Friday at 8 p.m. and then UCLA Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. Both matches will be available via live stream on ESPN+.
- Starting Friday vs. No. 11 Stanford, Ohio State will play its next seven matches against Top 14 teams in the weekly AVCA National Collegiate MVB Poll. After facing the Cardinal, the Buckeyes take on No. 1 UCLA, No. 14 Penn State, twice, No. 7 USC, No. 1 UCLA and No. 8 Loyola-Chicago.
- Ohio State will play host to USC and UCLA in the 2025 Big Ten Challenge Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Covelli Center. Those matches are bookended with a home match against Penn State Jan. 26 and the MIVA opener vs. Loyola-Chicago Feb. 8 in Columbus.
- The last time out, senior middle blocker Cole Young hit 1.000 with 10 kills on 10 swings to tie an Ohio State record for hitting percentage in a match. The last Buckeye to end a match with 10 or more kills without an error was Ethan Talley with a 10-0-10 effort March 1, 2019 at home against McKendree in a 3-1 win.
- In the series with Stanford, Ohio State is 4-11 all-time with wins in three of the last four meetings. The Cardinal prevailed in the last meeting Jan. 12, 2019 at Stanford, 3-1. The Buckeyes earned their last victory in Columbus Jan. 12, 2018, 3-1.
- Against the Bruins, the Buckeyes are 4-25. Ohio State defeated No. 1 UCLA 3-2 at the 2024 First Point Collegiate Challenge in Austin. The Bruins then won 3-0 at the final Big Ten Pac-12 Challenge a year ago in Los Angeles.
- The match against UCLA Saturday will the 1,700th in the history of the program (1968-present). The Buckeyes are 1,186-509-3 (.700) in 58 seasons.
- As a member of the MIVA, Ohio State is 497-151 (.767) with 47 regular season (28) and tournament (19) titles.
