McGinty Earns LPGA Tour Card in Final Stage of Q Series

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State women’s golfer Caley McGinty is LPGA Tour bound after placing tied for 21st in the final qualifying stage of the LPGA Q Series. She will be the 19th player in program history to compete on the LPGA Tour.

The final qualifying rounds were played at Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, Ala., with the first four rounds alternating between the Crossings (par 72) and Falls (par 71) courses. The final round was played on the Crossings Course.

McGinty finished with a five-round score of 351 (-7). She opened the final qualifying tournament on Thursday, Dec. 5, carding an even 71 and shot a two-over 74 in the second round on Friday. She bounced back in round three on Saturday, shooting her best round of the competition; a six-under 65. She carded an even 72 in round four to make the final cut.

Round five began on Monday, Dec. 9, but was halted after rain made the course unplayable. Play was resumed on Tuesday, Dec. 10. McGinty was tied for 25th place going into the final round, but another round in the 60’s, a three-under 69, moved her four spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 21st place and secure her spot on the LPGA Tour.

McGinty is the second Buckeye this year to qualify for the 2025 LPGA Tour season. In September, Jessica Porvasnik mathematically clinched her LPGA card after a 13th-place finish at the Guardian Championship, becoming the 18th player in program history to earn LPGA status. Porvasnik finished fourth in the Race for the Card standings after a phenomenal season on the EPSON Tour which saw her earn six top 10 finishes. Both McGinty and Porvasnik will make their debuts this coming spring.

The final qualifying stage in the LPGA Q Series comprised 99 players, with the field being cut down to 65, plus ties, for the final round of play. The top 25, plus ties, earned LPGA status for the 2025 season.
