COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State swimmer Cornelius Jahn has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
This is the first career Big Ten weekly award for Jahn. At the Ohio State Fall Invitational over the weekend, Jahn set a new program record in the 200 back, breaking the record of 1:40.74 that was set by Connor McDonald 10 years ago. Jahn’s new record of 1:40.66 is an NCAA B cut and earned him a third-place finish in the 200 back A final.
Jahn finished seventh in the A final of the 100 back with an NCAA B standard time of 46.15. He was the winner of the 50 free D final, turning in a time of 20.17. Jahn was also on the third place 400 medley relay team that finished in 3:06.59 and he was on the fourth place 800 free relay team that finished in 6:23.70.
The Buckeyes are back in action when they head to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Jan. 18.
