COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team is back at it on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet will be held at the Indiana Farmers Insurance Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Fans will be able to purchase tickets and parking for $10 each using the “Meet Central” link above. Shuttle service will not be available.
On Saturday, the doors to the public open at 9:30 a.m. with women’s weight throw being the first field event at 10:30 a.m. Track events will begin at 11:20 a.m. with the women’s 5,000m.
- At the Rod McCravy Memorial last weekend, the Ohio State women’s team finished second among 15 schools after tallying 107 total points and the men’s team tied for third out of 16 with 80 points.
- The Buckeyes won five events including the men’s 600m (Edidiong Udo, 1:16.77), women’s one mile (Olivia Oiler, 5:00.45 – personal record), women’s 3,000m (Daniella Santos, 9:39.36), men’s long jump (Brian Kellon, 7.29m/23-11.00) and the men’s distance medley relay (Colin Cernansky, Jaxson Eckert, Cooper Citro and Connor Long, 9:55.98).
- Udo was awarded the Big Ten Male Freshman of the Week for his efforts.
- Outside of Oiler, three other athletes placed in the top 10 for the women’s one mile including Zoee Lehman (second, 5:00.96), Lilly Eckels (fourth, 5:02.19) and Carina Napoleon (10th, 5:08.35).
- Udo, along with Lacey Stringer, Morgan Fijalkowski and Sophie Fong landed in Ohio State’s record book.
- Udo’s 600m time of 1:16.77 makes him the fourth fastest person in the event in school history. He also set the 600m meet record for the Rod McCravy Memorial in his first career meet.
- Stringer placed third on the shot put list after tossing a personal best 17.26m/56-07.50.
- Fijalkowski vaulted a personal record 4.10m/13-05.25, ranking her second on the program’s all-time pole vault list.
- Fong, also in pole vaulting, posted a 3.95m/12-11.50 which ties Megan Hoffman (2017) for fifth on Ohio State’s all-time leaders list.
