Buckeyes Compete in St. John’s Super Cup



COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sunday, the Ohio State fencing programs faced off against many of the nation’s top teams at the St. John’s Super Cup in Queens, N.Y. The Buckeye men were 1-3 on the day and the women were 0-4. The men are now 17-9 on the year and the women are 19-9 vs. all opponents.
 
Ohio State’s men downed St. John’s, with the women falling to the Red Storm. Both Buckeye squads suffered defeats against Columbia, Harvard and Notre Dame, the Top 3 teams in the preseason polls.
 
The men’s sabre, foil and epee squads each picked up a win and the women’s foil squad posted a victory.
 
Individually, Viktor Kulcsar led the men and the men’s epee squad with eight wins. Gabriel Feinberg was second among the men’s epeeists with six victories. Eddie Maklin was first for men’s sabre with six victories, followed by Samuel Rightler with five and Kelly Liu with four. Lorenzo Mion was first among men’s foilists with five wins and Solin Li posted four victories.
 
For the women, Natalia Botello was first for sabre and overall with six wins. Foil was led by Dasha Myroniuk (5 wins) and Claire Teresa Galavotti (4) and Marie-Frederique Millette paced women’s epee with four victories.
 
The Schedule Ahead
The Northwestern Duals wrap up the regular season Feb. 1-2.
Detroit Mercy will host the CCFC Championships Feb. 22-23, with NCAA Midwest Regionals hosted by Denison in Granville, Ohio, March 8.
Penn State will host the 2025 NCAA Fencing Championships March 20-23 in University Park, Pa.
