Three juveniles arrested in murder of 18-year-old who was dragged by a car following robbery

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Three juveniles have been arrested in connection to the murder of an 18-year-old who was dragged by a car during a robbery in March.

According to Toledo Police, officers arrested two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old on April 14. They are each facing a murder charge in the death of Joaquin Simmons.

On March 29, officers responded to Streicher and Mulberry for reports of a robbery. When they arrived, they found Simmons injured, lying in the road. He was transported to an area hospital with a traumatic brain injury. He died a few days later on April 2.

According to police, Simmons, a Woodward High School student, met up with a few people to sell some shoes through Facebook Marketplace. Simmons’ family tells 13 Action News that an argument broke out over the price of a pair of Balenciaga shoes and one of the suspects allegedly grabbed the shoes from Simmons, got in a car and the suspects drove off.

A police report says Simmons continued to hold on to the passenger as the car drove off, dragging him along the road. One of the suspects allegedly hit Simmons in the head with a gun and pushed him off before the vehicle sped away.
