Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- Ohio State enters the weekend riding a sweep of Bemidji State last weekend. The Buckeyes earned 6-0 and 4-0 wins over the Beavers to sweep the season series against the Beavers.
- Jocelyn Amos led the nation last week with seven points on three assists and a nation-high four goals. Three of her four goals in the game one win over Bemidji State were scored on the power play. She is tied for the most goals scored on the player advantage (3) in the last month. Her efforts in last week’s series earned her WCHA Forward of the Week honors.
- Amos is the Buckeyes’ first 30-point scorer this season. Her 30 points this season tie her career best. She leads the team with a career-high16 goals and five power play goals on the season. She is also the Buckeyes’ leader at the faceoff dot with a .688 win percentage and 274 wins from the dot, ranking ninth in the county in wins.
- Jenna Buglioni has a team-high five game-winning goals this season, good for second nationally. With 15 game-winning goals in her career, she is one shy of tying the program record. The Port Moody, B.C. native became the program’s sixth player to record 150 points in the scarlet and gray sweater in last weekend’s series.
- Ohio State is tied for first in the country with four shorthanded goals on the year. Buglioni is tied for first nationally with two shorthanded goals this season. With five shorthanded goals for her career, the Buckeye captain is one shy of tying the program record of six.
- Hailey MacLeod was named to the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) watch list for the 2025 Women’s Goalie of the Year award. This initial “Watch List” of outstanding goalies is comprised of those with a goals-against average of 2.10 or lower or a save percentage of .920 or higher. MacLeod has a 1.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .908 in in eight games played for the Buckeyes this season.
- Also announce this week were the 14 nominees for the 2025 Hockey Humanitarian Award. Graduate forward Makenna Webster was named a nominee for the award. Webster, who is an assistant captain for the ice hockey team and also a captain for the field hockey team, has employed her passion for sport and American Sign Language to make the sport more accessible. She has volunteered with the American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association’s Stan Mikita Hockey School, a team that consists of girls and women with a hearing impairment from age 10 who are participating in development to become future members of the USA National Deaf Women’s Hockey Team. Because of her proficiency in ASL, Webster has been able to help the players develop into better hockey players and provide access to learning both on and off the ice. She also volunteers with Buckeye Buddies, an Ohio State student organization that volunteers with athletes from Special Olympics Ohio, and the Columbus Blue Jackets’ Get Out and Learn clinics.
Series History – Buckeyes vs. Bulldogs
- Ohio State is looking for its first win against Minnesota Duluth this season in the upcoming series in Duluth.
- The last time the teams met at AMSOIL Arena, Ohio State earned its first sweep of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth since the 2012-13 season and the team’s third road sweep of the Bulldogs in program history.
- The Buckeyes are 7-3-0 in the last 10 meetings against the Bulldogs. Ten of the last 16 matchups have been decided by one goal.
- Ohio State looks to make a second trip to AMSOIL Arena this season as it will also host the 2025 WCHA Final Faceoff this year. Â
- Ohio State alumna and two-time captain Olivia Soares (’20) is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs. She was a member of the Buckeyes’ first Final Faceoff championship team.
