COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team (5-0) hosts No. 9 Greenville (1-1) in the 2025 home opener on Friday in Covelli at 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free for all home meets.
- Among the 11 collegiate men’s gymnastics teams that opened the 2025 season last weekend, Ohio State earned the second-highest team score (315.800) as the Buckeyes finished first among the six teams at the West Point Open.
- As a team, the Buckeyes had the highest event scores on pommel horse (53.950), parallel bars (52.200) and high bar (52.700) at the meet.
- Individually, Ohio State earned five event wins – floor (Kameron Nelon, 13.800), pommel horse (Parker Thackston, 14.500), vault (Nelson, 14.100), parallel bars (Drake Andrews, 14.050) and all-around (Andrews, 77.700).
- Nelson made history as the first gymnast in the world to compete two triple back skills in a floor routine. He was named Inside Gymnastics’ Gymnast of the Week, Big Ten Gymnast of the Week and College Gymnastics Association Gymnast of the Week.
- The Buckeyes swept the first Big Ten weekly awards of the season as Thackston (specialist) and Tyler Burgess (freshman) joined Nelson in earning the conference’s weekly honors.
- Ohio State has 19 rankings among the country’s individual top-25 on each event with Nelson (floor), Thackston (pommel horse) and Andrews (parallel bars and all-around) leading the nation.
- Greenville competed in a tri-meet at Michigan last weekend, earning 299.450 as a team. Michigan won the meet with a 310.900 and Simpson earned a 287.400 to finish third.
