How to Claim Your Share of Apple’s $95 Million Siri Snooping Settlement

If you are in the US and used a Siri-supported device between Sept. 17, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2024, you might be eligible for part of a $95 million payout from Apple. 

A class-action lawsuit filed against Apple in 2019 claimed the iPhone maker was using Siri to record users’ conversations without consent. Apple settled the case earlier this year for $95 million without admitting any wrongdoing.

Now, a notice approved by the US District Court for the Northern District of California is being sent to affected parties. At least three PCMag staffers have received it; check your inbox for an email with the subject line: “Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement.” (Fumiko Lopez is one of the plaintiffs.)

If you’re eligible, you can submit a claim on the settlement website. Click “Submit Claim” and enter the identification ID and confirmation code written on top of your notice. You can submit claims for up to five Siri-supported devices by July 2, 2025, and receive a payout of up to $20 per device. The court will reveal the final approved amount on Aug. 1. 

If you haven’t received the notice but believe you were affected by Siri’s snooping, click “Submit Claim” on the website and select “New Claim.” If you’re not sure or need more details about the payout, you can contact the settlement administrator.

Note that once you submit a claim, you can’t sue Apple for issues “arising out of or related to the claims in this case.” You can opt out of the settlement if you wish to file another case.

Apple, meanwhile, has other Siri-related problems on its hands. At least three lawsuits have been filed accusing Apple of false advertising regarding Apple Intelligence, including the delayed launch of a supercharged Siri.
