Toledo Falls to Miami in Doubleheader


OXFORD, Ohio – The Toledo softball team dropped its doubleheader to Miami on Tuesday afternoon. The RedHawks tallied 9-1 and 9-3 wins during the twin bill in Oxford, Ohio.

Senior center fielder Kendra VanderLugt recorded her sixth home run of the season in game two, sending a two-run blast over the left-field fence. Sidney Griffith added an RBI double in the seventh inning.

Griffith and VanderLugt are tied for the team lead with 33 hits.

How It Happened

Game 1

  • Toledo took a 1-0 lead in the first when Eli Enriquez crossed home during a rundown.
  • A seven-run fourth inning put Miami in control. The RedHawks added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth inning to take the win.

Game 2

  • Miami took an 8-0 lead after three innings.
  • Kendra VanderLugt’s two-run homer made the score 8-2 in the fifth inning.
  • Sidney Griffith’s RBI double to center brought Toledo within 9-3 for the game’s final scoring.
