AKRON, Ohio – Senior Samantha Thomas broke the program record in the 400m to lead the Toledo women’s track and field team on Friday night at the Al Campbell Invitational in Akron, Ohio Thomas recorded a final mark of 54.82, breaking Varsity T Hall of Famer Shantel Ransom’s record of 54.90 that has been standing since 1991.
Thomas followed by taking fourth in the 200m with a time of 24.62, which now ranks as the eighth-fastest time in program history in the event.
In the 60m hurdles, senior Mayson Bates placed second with a time fo 8.83. Redshirt freshman Bella Earl took third in the mile run with a mark of 5:07.42.
Senior Sydney Caddell placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.40m. Freshman Chloe Pyles recorded a mark of 10.42 in the triple jump event to take fifth place overall, while sophomore Jordyn Wright placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.38m.
