Rockets Storm Back Against Ohio State in 11-6 Triumph in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team stormed back from an early deficit, rallying in the late innings to surge past Big Ten foe Ohio State, 11-6 at Bill Davis Stadium Wednesday evening.

The Rockets (17-23) trailed 5-0 after two innings, but rallied to victory with the help of six scoreless innings from the bullpen. After getting within 6-4 after seven innings, the Rockets put together a six-run rally with two outs in the eighth to take the lead for good over the Buckeyes (10-28).

Toledo rallied from five runs down for a victory for the first time since May 3, 2024 against Eastern Michigan, which coincidentally included a six-run rally in the eighth inning. UT marked its second win over a Big Ten opponent this season, having defeated Oregon 5-3 on Feb. 15.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
“I’m really happy about the way we responded and settled in after an ugly start to the game. The offense did a good job of building innings and fighting back. Our comeback wouldn’t have been possible if Braden Curry and Ryan Hughes hadn’t come in and thrown the ball so well from the fourth inning on.”
