TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women’s soccer student-athletes Carys Bourbeau and Aly Peckham will compete in the first women’s season of semi-professional club Toledo Villa FC this season.
The Rocket duo will play for a club which is set to compete in USL-W and will face teams including Kalamazoo FC, Midwest United FC, Detroit City FC, AFC Ann Arbor and Union Macomb FC. Bourbeau and Peckham will also get to compete inside Paul Hotmer Field, home of the University of Toledo women’s soccer team since 2019. Toledo Villa FC, which represents the highest level of professional/semi-professional women’s soccer in the city’s history, will play all its home games at Hotmer Field this season.
“We are very excited that both Carys and Aly will be representing the Toledo community and Rocket Nation this summer playing for Toledo Villa,” said Head Coach Mark Batman. “It is a great opportunity for both of them, and we are thrilled they get a chance to compete in all of their home games on their collegiate home field. We hope that their playing locally, in front of the Toledo community, will only enhance our fan base in the fall and fill Paul Hotmer Field for all of our home games in 2025.”
Bourbeau, an incoming junior, has played in 34 matches for Toledo as a midfielder. She played in all 17 matches last year and made 10 starts, totaling 1,034 minutes. She contributed to a defense which allowed just 16 goals (0.94/match) last season, tying a program record for fewest goals allowed as a team.
Peckham will compete as a freshman beginning with the 2025 season. The Toledo native starred at Notre Dame Academy, where she was a United Soccer Coaches’ All-American in her senior season, scoring 20 goals and adding 10 assists. She also earned all-Ohio and all-region honors in her freshman, junior and senior seasons.
Toledo Villa FC’s home matches will be May 18, May 31, June 11, June 18 and June 25. The May 31 match will feature an opening ceremony with Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Lucas County Commissioners, among other local leaders.
Bourbeau, Peckham and the Rockets begin their fall 2025 collegiate season on Aug. 14 at Eastern Kentucky.
Toledo Villa FC was founded in 2017 and has competed in USL League Two Great Lakes Division in men’s soccer.
