COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s golf head coach Lisa Strom has been named to the Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride Watch List, announced by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Tuesday.
Strom has led the No. 13 Buckeyes to tournament wins this season at the Clemson Invitational and the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational. The Buckeyes have placed in the top-10 all 11 events they have competed in this season, including a third-place finish at NCAA Regionals at the OSU Scarlet Course and a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
At the Clemson Invitational, the Buckeyes broke three program records, setting new records in team 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole scoring. The team finished the tournament at 45-under (819).
Junior Kary Hollenbaugh has had a phenomenal season under Strom’s leadership, earning four tournament wins, which is tied for the most in a single season in program history. She tied for second at the Big Ten Championships.
Hollenbaugh earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and senior Faith Choi and freshman Nellie Ong were both named to the All-Big Ten Second Team.
Strom and the Buckeyes have qualified for NCAA Regionals in all four of her seasons at the helm and this season, they have qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2018.
The award will be announced following the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 16-21 in Carlsbad, Calif.
