COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11/9 Ohio State women’s basketball team (5-0) travels to the Daytona Beach Classic for a pair of games this week. The Buckeyes will face Old Dominion (4-1) on Thursday at 11 a.m. and Utah State (1-4) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The games will be broadcast on BallerTV and AM1460.

  • Ohio State captured a 96-53 win against Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon in the Schottenstein Center. The Buckeyes got at least one basket from each of the nine players who saw the court and had five double-figure scorers.
  • The Buckeyes turned it over a season-low six times, while forcing the Falcons to commit 24 turnovers. Ohio State recorded 15 steals and made 10 or more three-pointers for the fourth time this season.
  • Ava Watson led OSU’s scoring efforts with a career-high 20 points, making her the fifth Buckeye of the season to record a 20-point game. She made a career-high six triples, shooting .600 from long range.
  • Other double-figure scorers included Chance Gray (18), Taylor Thierry (17), Jaloni Cambridge (17) and Kennedy Cambridge (career-high 10).
  • Old Dominion leaped out to a 4-1 start this season and is scheduled to host William & Mary tonight. The Monarchs lost on the road to Ball State by a 60-46 margin in their season opener but responded to beat SMU, Morgan State, Bowie State and VCU (in overtime).
  • En’Dya Buford and Simaru Fields lead the ODU offense with 11.8 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. Mikayla Brown is averaging a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.
  • Ohio State trails 1-3 in the all-time series against Old Dominion and is 0-1 when facing the Monarchs at a neutral site.
  • The teams have not met since Kevin McGuff‘s first season at the helm of Ohio State women’s basketball when the Buckeyes earned their first win of the series, 75-60, on Nov. 22, 2013. The other three meetings in the series took place in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
  • Utah State started the season 1-4 under former Ohio State assistant coach, Wesley Brooks. The Aggies fell to Kansas City, CSUN, Northern Colorado and Colorado, but picked up their first win of the season against Cal State Bakersfield. Utah State is scheduled to play Omaha tonight.
  • Cheyenne Stubbs and Jamisyn Heaton lead the Utah State offense with 15.8 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Heaton also leads the team’s rebounding efforts with 5.2 rebounds per game.
  • This is the first meeting in program history between Ohio State and Utah State.
