Ohio State Hosts RV Illinois Friday, Travels to No. 22 Indiana Sunday



COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (3-11, 0-6 B1G) plays once at home and once away this week, hosting RV Illinois (10-5, 5-1 B1G) on Friday before traveling to No. 22 Indiana (14-2, 5-1 B1G) on Sunday. Friday’s match will be broadcast live on B1G+ with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, while Sunday’s match will be broadcast live on BTN for a noon start.
 
Parking is free for all home matches in the lots across the street. Friday’s match is the pink match as the Buckeyes will honor all fighters and survivors. The James will also be providing pink glow wands to the first 2,000 fans. Ohio State students are free with their BuckID and will enjoy concessions discounts from 5-6 p.m.
 
BUCKEYE PREVIEW

  • Ohio State faced its fourth ranked opponent of the season on Sunday, falling to No. 14 Minnesota in three sets (22-25, 21-25, 14-25).
  • Junior setter Mia Tuman recorded her 600th career dig in Sunday’s match at No. 14 Minnesota.
  • Hannah Jones leads the Buckeye offense, ranking ninth in the B1G with 3.74 kills/set. Olivia Hasbrook leads Ohio State in digs/set (3.36) to rank ninth in the Big Ten.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING ILLINI

  • RV Illinois enters the match with a 10-5 overall record and is 5-1 in Big Ten play.
  • The Fighting Illini’s Big Ten wins include Oregon, then No. 10 Purdue, Michigan State, Maryland and Rutgers, while Illinois’ lone conference loss is to No. 7 Wisconsin.
  • Taylor de Boer leads the Illinois offense with 3.70 kills/set, while Taryn Kirsch is averaging 3.16 digs/set to lead the back row.

HISTORY WITH ILLINOIS

  • Ohio State trails 44-47 in the all-time series against Illinois and is 19-18 when facing the Fighting Illini in Columbus.
  • Last season, the Buckeyes fell to the Fighting Illini in three sets (18-25, 25-27, 20-25) on Nov. 9 in Champaign.

  • The Hoosiers’ B1G wins include Northwestern, Washington, then No. 17 USC, then No. 24 UCLA and Michigan. IU’s lone Big Ten loss is to Michigan State.
  • Candela Alonso-Corcelles’ 3.58 kills/set leads a trio of Hoosiers averaging more than 3.0 kills/set. Teodora Krickovic is second in the league with 10.76 assists/set, while Ella Boersema is second in blocks/set (1.45).

HISTORY WITH INDIANA

  • Ohio State leads 57-29 in the all-time series against Indiana. The Buckeyes are 19-20 when facing the Hoosiers in Bloomington.
  • Last season, each team won on its home court as the Buckeyes fell in four sets (15-25, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25) in Bloomington before winning in five sets (25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 25-17,15-7) in Columbus.
