Ohio State Hosts Rutgers and No. 11 Wisconsin This Weekend



COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (3-15, 0-10 B1G) hosts Rutgers (10-12, 1-9 B1G) and No. 11 Wisconsin (15-3, 8-2 B1G) this weekend. The Buckeyes face the Scarlet Knights on Friday at 6 p.m. on B1G+ and the Badgers on Sunday at noon on BTN.
 
Parking is free for all home matches in the lots across the street. Ohio State students are free to all home matches with their BuckID. The Buckeyes will celebrate alumni weekend this weekend, in partnership with the Ohio State men’s volleyball team. On Friday, the Buckeyes will host trick-or-treat on the concourse. On Sunday, fans are encouraged to wear white and stick around after the match for a meet and greet on the concourse with the team.
 
BUCKEYE PREVIEW

  • Ohio State dropped a four-set match (25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 18-25) against then No. 18 Penn State on Sunday, the Buckeyes’ sixth ranked opponent of the season.
  • Na’Vea Gauthier totaled a career-high 11 kills, becoming the sixth Buckeye this season to have 10 or more in a match.
  • Olivia Hasbrook led the Buckeyes with 16 digs, continuing to rank in the top 10 in the conference with 3.32 digs/set this season.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS

  • Rutgers enters the match with a 10-12 overall record and is 1-9 in conference play.
  • The Scarlet Knights beat Maryland and fell to then No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 12 Minnesota, No. 1 Nebraska, Northwestern, RV Illinois, Maryland, No. 12 Purdue, No. 18 Penn State and Iowa during Big Ten play.
  • Aspen Maxwell leads the Rutgers offense and ranks eighth in the conference with 3.80 kills/set, while setter Lily Bolen is sixth with 10.00 assists/set.

HISTORY WITH RUTGERS

  • Ohio State leads 20-1 in the all-time series against Rutgers. The Buckeyes are 9-0 when facing the Scarlet Knights in Columbus.
  • Last season, the Buckeyes earned the sweep (25-19, 25-16, 26-24) against the Scarlet Knights in Columbus.

SCOUTING THE BADGERS

  • No. 11 Wisconsin enters the weekend with a 15-3 overall record and is 8-2 in conference play. The Badgers are scheduled to host No. 1 Nebraska on Friday.
  • Wisconsin owns conference wins against Rutgers, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, then No. 23 UCLA, Washington and Oregon. The Badgers have lost to Big Ten foes then No. 19 Penn State and No. 25 USC.
  • Mimi Colyer is second in the Big Ten with 5.20 kills/set and Charlie Fuebringer is leading the league with 11.23 assists/set. Defensively, Carter Booth is third in the B1G in blocks/set (1.36) and Kristen Simon is fourth in digs/set (3.67).

HISTORY WITH WISCONSIN

  • Ohio State trails 37-46 in the all-time series against Wisconsin and is 18-20 when facing the Badgers in Columbus.
  • Last season, the Buckeyes pushed then No. 7 Wisconsin to five sets (23-25, 14-25, 25-21, 26-24, 12-15) in Madison.
