Four Buckeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors



COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State field hockey team earned All-Big Ten honors, announced by the conference on Wednesday. Makenna Webster and Katie Fichtner both earned First Team All-Big Ten honors; Anne Marie Krebs was named Second Team All-Big Ten and Autum Kernechel was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
 
This is the third straight year being named to the All-Big Ten First Team for Webster. This season, she led the Buckeyes with a career high 18 goals during the regular season, as well as leading the team in assists (six) and points (42). She set a single game program scoring record against Kent State on Aug. 31, netting six goals in the game.
 
This is the second straight season on the All-Big Ten First Team for Fichtner. Fichtner was one of the Buckeyes’ strongest defensive players, helping the team to five shutout wins over the regular season. Fichtner added seven goals and tied her career-high in assists with two.
 
Krebs earned her second straight All-Big Ten Second Team selection. She was a consistent defensive force for the Buckeyes this season, starting in all 16 games. She also scored a career-high two goals and added two assists.
 
Kernechel had a strong rookie season to earn her spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Kernechel had three assists on the season and she played and started in 11 games.
 
Victoria Kutz was Ohio State’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
 
The No. 7 seeded Buckeyes open play at the Big Ten Tournament against No. 2 Maryland on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 2:00 p.m.
