COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Lorin Boutte and Jasmyn Burns were honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday with the first weekly awards of the 2025 season. Boutte is the Pitcher of the Week and Burns is the Player of the Week.
Boutte logged a team-high 12.1 innings in the Buckeyes’ games as weekend at the Elon Softball Classic in Elon, N.C. On Friday, she made her collegiate debut and threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 13-0 five-inning win over North Carolina Central. Boutte is just the third freshman in the last 24 years to throw a no-hitter and the first since 2014.
Boutte also made appearances versus Elon (3.1 IP, one hit allowed, five strikeouts) and is yesterday’s weekend finale vs. UConn (4.0 IP, seven strikeouts, one hit allowed). Her stat line over the four games included 25 strikeouts, two hits allowed and zero earned runs.
Burns hit a team-best .714 on the weekend and had multiple hits in each of Ohio State’s four games. On Friday, she started the season by going 3-for-4 with a home run and career-high five RBI vs. North Carolina Central. Burns hit her second home run of the weekend – a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning yesterday vs. UConn – and helped the Buckeyes defeat the Huskies 3-1.
Burns led all Big Ten hitters last weekend in batting average (.714), slugging percentage (1.143), on-base percentage (.733) and was tied for second in home runs.
Ohio State (4-0) makes a trip south next weekend for five games at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla. The Buckeyes are slated to face No. 12 Florida State (Friday), No. 15 Missouri (Friday), No. 11 Alabama (Saturday), Clemson (Sunday) and UCF (Sunday). All five Ohio State game will be carried on the ESPN family of networks – either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN+.
