Buckeyes Earn All-American Honors in Both Relays on Day One of NCAAs

COLUMBUS, Ohio

– The No. 13 Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team completed the first day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday, turning in Honorable Mention All-American performances in both relays and setting a program record in the 800 free relay.  
 
The Buckeyes placed 16th in the 200 medley relay to open the NCAA Championships and earn Honorable Mention All-American recognition. The relay team of Cornelius Jahn, Karl Helmuth, Matt Klinge and Daniel Baltes finished in 1:23.59.
 
The night wrapped up with the 800 free relay and the team of Tomas Navikonis, Tristan Jankovics, Jahn and Jordi Vilchez set a program record with a time of 6:10.58. The Buckeyes placed 10th to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors.
 
After the first day of competition, the Buckeyes are in 13th place with 16 points.
 
The NCAA Championships continue Thursday, March 27-Saturday, March 29 in Federal Way, Wash. Prelims will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET each day and finals will get underway at 9:00 p.m. ET each day.
