COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (5-18, 2-13 B1G) fell in three sets (17-25, 23-25, 18-25) to RV Michigan (18-8, 8-7 B1G) on Friday evening in Ann Arbor.
Michigan earned the early match advantage by winning the first set by a 25-17 margin. Ohio State led much of the second set, but the Wolverines caught up late to win by a 25-23 mark. Michigan used an early run to lead the entirety of the third set and capture a 25-18 set win to end the match.

- S1: Ohio State opened scoring with a kill from Kaia Castle, but Michigan responded with the next five points. The Buckeyes got within one at 6-5 on a kill from Hannah Jones and again at 10-9 on an ace from Kaitlyn Hoffman. The Wolverines scored four unanswered points to increase their lead to 18-11 and led by as many as nine points at 22-13. Michigan captured a 25-17 set win.
- S2: The Buckeyes scored the first two points of the set and used a 5-1 run to build an 8-3 lead. Ohio State continued to lead at the media timeout by a 15-11 margin. Michigan used an extended 5-1 run to take its first lead of the set at 18-17. The Buckeyes led by a 21-19 margin after an ace by Olivia Hasbrook but the Wolverines responded with the next three points to regain the lead. Michigan scored the final two points of the set to win by a 25-23 margin.
- S3: Michigan used a 5-0 run to build an early 6-1 lead. Ohio State got back within two at 8-6 after back-to-back aces from Hannah Jones. The Wolverines used a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 16-10. After an Ohio State timeout, the Buckeyes scored three of the next four points to trim their deficit to 22-18 but fell by a 25-18 margin.
Match Notes
- Ohio State totaled eight aces – a season-high among three-set matches.
- Olivia Hasbrook was the first in the match to reach 10 digs, doing so in the second set and finishing with a match-high 14 total digs. This is the 13th match of the season that Hasbrook has recorded at least 10 digs.
- Mia Tuman owns 2,738 career assists to rank 11th in program history. She is just 17 assists away from tying Amanda Peterson’s 2,755 career assists in 10th.
- This is Hasbrook’s eighth match of the season with more than one ace. She recorded three aces today to tie for her second-most of the season.
- This is the fifth match of the season that Hannah Jones has recorded more than one ace. Her three aces tonight were just one shy of her career-high.
- S2: All six of the set’s ties happened between points 17 and 23.
