Buckeye Defense Shines, Bilow Nets Game Winner Over Bruins



COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (5-4, 2-1) earned a 2-1 win against UCLA (2-5-2, 2-2) Monday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. 
 

  • The Buckeyes played with 10 men after Nick McHenry was issued a red card on a sliding tackle against Sergi Solans Ormo in the 7′.
  • In the 29′, Andre Roberts drew a foul right outside the goalie box, leading to Marko Borkovic sinking a penalty kick to put Ohio State on the board first, 1-0. This was Borkovic’s 15th career goal and team-leading fifth of the season.

  • After an Ohio State handball, UCLA evened the score in the 62′ on a penalty kick by Artem Vovk. 
  • The Buckeyes netted the game-winner a minute after in the 63′ from an outside-the-box power shot from Ashton Bilow assisted by Luciano Pechota. Bilow’s goal marked his third career goal and first of the season.

  • The Bruins outshot the Buckeyes, 19-5, and recorded 12 corners compared to Ohio State’s 0.
  • Max Trejo started in goal and faced 18 shots while recording a season-high five saves. He is now 5-3 on the year.
