Falcons Land Three on All-MAC First Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Communications) – Three Bowling Green State University women’s soccer standouts have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team. The All-MAC Team and specialty-award winners were announced on Friday afternoon (Oct. 31) by the league office.

Juniors Emme Butera, Gabby Lamparty and Emma Stransky each earned all-league first-team honors, while Minah Syam was chosen to the MAC’s All-Freshman Team.

Butera has been honored by the conference coaches for the second consecutive year, after being named to the All-MAC Second Team in 2024. Stransky earned All-Freshman-Team accolades two years ago.

BGSU’s total of three All-MAC First-Team selections is the highest in three years, since Maya Dean, Mackenzie Reuber and Kennedy White all earned the honor in 2022.

The Falcons, Western Michigan and Buffalo each had three players named to the all-conference first team in 2025, while Ball State and Miami had one apiece.

Butera, a native of Willoughby Hills, Ohio (Willoughby South), has started all 19 matches this season, and has played 1,686 of the 1,710 total minutes. Butera has scored seven points on a goal and a BGSU-high five assists this season to date. Six of those seven points came in MAC matches. Butera has played all 90 minutes in 18 of BG’s 19 contests to date. Primarily a midfielder, she has also spent time on the back line over the last few matches, and is a key reason why the Falcons have allowed just 12 goals this season to date. Butera has played in all 55 of BGSU’s matches since coming to Northwest Ohio, and she has started all 37 games over the last two seasons. She has 14 career points on three goals and eight assists.

Lamparty, who hails from Canfield, Ohio (South Range), is the only non-goalkeeper on the Falcons to have played more minutes than Butera. Lamparty, who has started all 19 matches at a defender spot, has played 1,689 total minutes in her first season as a Falcon. The West Virginia transfer is second on the team in scoring, with nine points on three goals and three assists. Lamparty has helped the club post team goals-against averages of 0.64 overall and 0.67 in MAC play. BGSU has not allowed more than one goal in a match this season to date, and the Falcons have recorded seven shutouts.

Stransky, a native of Copley, Ohio (Copley), leads the Falcons in both goals and points. She has played in all 19 matches, making 18 starts. The junior has 17 points on eight goals and an assist this fall. Four of her eight goals have been game winners. BGSU has scored the first goal of the match seven times this season, and Stransky has been the goal-scorer on six of those seven occasions. She led the Falcons with five goals (tying for third in the conference) and 11 points in MAC play, including a two-goal performance in the conference opener vs. Kent State. Stransky now has career totals of 15 goals, six assists and 36 points as a Falcon, and she has moved into the top 20 on the school career lists for both goals and points.

Syam, who hails from Pittsburgh, Pa. (Avonworth), has played in all 19 matches this season after missing the entire 2024 campaign due to injury. Syam has started 12 contests, including seven in MAC action, and has a pair of assists on the season. The midfielder picked up her first career point on an assist in BGSU’s 4-0 win over Central Michigan, and she had the lone assist on a Stransky goal that opened the scoring in Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Massachusetts. Syam played all 90 minutes in the Miami match in mid-October, and has been on the pitch for over 70 minutes in five of BGSU’s last six contests.

The Falcons are 9-2-8 overall in 2025, and BGSU finished the regular-season schedule with a MAC record of 4-1-7. The Orange and Brown, the sixth seed for the MAC Tournament, will face third-seeded Buffalo on Saturday (Nov. 1), with first touch set for 1:00 p.m. at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

BG has advanced to the MAC Tournament for the ninth consecutive season, the longest current streak among conference schools.
