The 26-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after the crash north of the Ohio Turnpike Monday afternoon. Her condition is not known at this time.

SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio — A 26-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon following a crash between her vehicle and a semi truck in Sandusky County.

The woman’s condition and identity are not known at this time. She was taken to the hospital by air ambulance after the crash on state Route 53 just north of the Ohio Turnpike’s Fremont toll plaza in Rice Township.

SR 53 is closed between county roads 99 and 174 in Sandusky County, about 1 mile north of the turnpike. It is not clear at this time when the road will reopen.

Two occupants in the semi were not injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the semi was backing into a nearby field to pick up a load when the woman, who was driving southbound on SR 53, did not stop and went underneath the trailer.
