TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – It’s a follow up to a story 13 Action News brought to you in January.
Some Toledo residents are at ease now that their calls for safety have been answered.
After we met with residents and a bar owner in the Vistula Neighborhood about gun violence concerns, The Toledo Police Department took action.
Those that we spoke with wanted a heavier police presence in the area to combat recent shootings and to feel more secure.
13 Action News returned to the neighborhood this week and a mobile trailer camera from TPD was set up. One of the initial residents, who wanted to remain anonymous, said they were elated to see it.
“We were very excited, we were happy about it,” an anonymous Vistula Neighborhood resident said. “We said, maybe it will slow the shootings down around here and in my personal opinion, I think it has.”
On top of the camera, this resident said police cruisers consistently drive through the area throughout the day now.
“I want to say thank you to Toledo Police and thank you guys [13 Action News} for stepping up and helping us out,” the resident said.
They added they have high hopes silence on shootings will stick.
TPD said in any emergency, you call 911. But, if you want to send an anonymous tip about an issue like this popping up in your neighborhood, you can send photos and videos to 419-900-8477.
