EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) – Videos are going viral of dead fish washing up on the shores of Lake Erie at a local park.
Videos and pictures like the ones above are appearing all over social media after the fish appeared on the beach of Kenneth J. Sims Park.
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), the process is called hypoxic upwelling.
The strong winds the Cleveland-area had on Thursday brought water with depleted oxygen to shore, according to the ODNR.
The ODNR said fish populations have not been impacted and scavengers will eventually scoop up dead or dying fish.
