Two Family Dollars robbed in west Toledo

Both incidents occurred within just over an hour of each other.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating two aggravated robberies in west Toledo that occurred Wednesday evening and appear to be connected.

According to Toledo police reports, officers were first dispatched to the 2800 block of Central Avenue just after 6 p.m. regarding a robbery at a Family Dollar. An employee of the business told police an unknown suspect walked up to the register and demanded money. In the report, police said the employee told them the suspect “acted as if he had a gun,” but no gun was seen.

The suspect then fled on foot east on Central Avenue, police said. No injuries occurred, police said.

Then, just over an hour later at about 7:09 p.m. police responded to a Family Dollar in the 3500 block of Dorr Street, also regarding a robbery.

Police said they spoke with an employee of the location, who said a suspect walked up to the register, acted as if he had a gun and demanded money from the register. Police said in their report the suspect got a “beer from the store.”

The suspect then fled the location south on Byrne Road in a black SUV, police said. No injuries were reported.

It was also in this report that police said the suspect in the Dorr Street robbery appeared to be the same suspect from the Central Avenue robbery.

If you have any information on these incidents or the suspect, police ask that you call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
