TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo School for the Arts has announced it is launching a fundraiser to help replace a stolen sculpture and expand the outdoor security cameras on campus.
TSA says students received an unwelcome real-life lesson when a sculpture, which was created by an advanced visual arts student, was stolen. A few parts of the sculpture, titled “My Happy Place” were recovered, but a majority of the pieces were sold for scrap.
According to school officials, TSA and QSI Fabrication, Inc. have decided to help rebuild the work with the artist while also expanding the outdoor security cameras to include to entire campus.
To do this, TSA will be launching a $25,000 campaign on July 10.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and well-wishes from the community that we received after the theft,” said Dave Gierke, TSA development director. “Many asked what they could do to help us, and this campaign is the answer.”
