MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WTVG) – The Monroe Co. Sheriff says they’ve arrested and charged a teen boy for a shooting that hospitalized two people Saturday night.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, May 10, a drive-by shooting occurred at Charring Square Apartments. Deputies found two people suffering from gunshots and a third victim who wasn’t struck.
Deputies say it was initially reported that a sedan with several occupants was seen fleeing the scene. A traffic stop was later made on that vehicle, which had several occupants inside. The Sheriff’s Office says further evidence revealed the shooter exited the car before it left the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office identified the alleged shooter as a 15-year-old boy who lives near the crime scene. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the child’s residence, where he was taken into police custody.
The teen was booked into the Monroe County Youth Center on three counts of ‘Assault with Intent to Murder.’ He’s currently awaiting a petition to be authorized and a preliminary hearing, according to deputies.
