The victim, described by Toledo police at the scene as a man in his 20s, was identified as 18-year-old Jaidon Mangas. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
TOLEDO, Ohio — A person is dead after a shooting in south Toledo on Saturday.
Toledo police initially said at the scene that a male shooting victim in their 20s was found in an alley north of Colburn Street near Congress Street just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, police identified the victim as 18-year-old Jaidon Mangas. According to police, Mangas was taken to UTMC and pronounced dead.
According to Findlay City Schools, Mangas, who recently turned 18, was a student at Findlay High School at the time of his death on Saturday.
On Sunday, the district released a statement on Mangas’ death.
“Trojan Country is grieving the loss of our student, Jaidon Mangas. While we do not have any details surrounding this tragic event, we can confirm that he was a student at Findlay High School.”
Mangas family says he was getting ready to move into his first apartment on Monday when he was shot and killed.
Detectives are investigating Mangas’ death as murder.
