School crossing guard faces criminal sexual conduct charges over relationship with 13-year-old

MONROE, Mich. (WTVG) – A 23-year-old faces criminal sexual conduct charges after he allegedly admitted to a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old.

The investigation into Timothy Alan Warthen, II, began when a caller reported that an older-looking male subject was possibly engaging in intimate contact with a younger female inside a vehicle parked near the MLK Jr. Pedestrian Bridge the night of August 30.

The detective made contact with the 13-year-old girl and a 23-year-old male at the scene and he was taken into custody, when authorities said he admitted to the relationship, claiming the two were dating.

Warthen said he worked as a part-time crossing guard at Ida Public Schools.

The school district told police he has since been terminated.

He was arrested and booked in the Monroe County Jail. His bail is set at $100,000.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Monroe Police Detective Bureau at (734) 243-7500.
