TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A busted-out window caused by rocks is something one Oregon woman did not expect to have to deal with.
She said this happened because of work being done at a CSX line, causing rocks to rain down all over the place.
Rachel Warns is asking CSX to take care of the issue.
“I’m just glad nobody was hurt, I just want them to make right on it,” she said.
It happened on Wednesday and Warns said her daughter captured CSX crews working on a railroad track that’s just feet away from her home.
“The past few days they’ve had the little machines up and down, so I knew there was going to be work getting down, but I wasn’t expecting my window to be busted out,” Warns said.
She claims that during the work, rocks were thrown all over Jersey Road near the train track in Oregon. The rocks entered her yard, damaging the vehicle.
“This was going to be my daughter’s car,” she said.
She reached out to CSX and said she had not yet heard back after filing a damage claim.
Warns said the issues were unexpected.
“I can understand if I was parked like on that side, on their property, maybe something like that could happen,” Warns said. “But I didn’t think that would happen, just my car parked in my driveway, while I’m away at work.”
Warns added, she does not have any gripes with the trains or track.
“We’ve lived here a year and a half, never had any issues with the trains going by, I mean, besides turning up the remote when they go by, but that’s really about it,” she said.
But she said she shouldn’t have to foot the bill for the damage.
“Why should I make a claim and my policy go up when it was their mistake,” said Warns.
Warns hopes next time there’s a warning.
“I hope next time, before they do something like that, they’ll reach out and let us know and I will move my vehicles,” she said.
Warns did file a police report.
CSX said it is looking into the matter.
