One person killed, two others injured in Monroe County crash

According to the sheriff’s office, a 28-year-old Tecumseh man was killed in the crash.

MONROE, Mich. — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Monroe County.

The crash happened on South Custer Road, east of Strasburg Road, in Raisinville Township at approximately 2:48 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hunter Boyd, 28, of Tecumseh, was traveling east on South Custer Road when, “for an unknown reason,” crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on.

The sheriff’s office said Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old woman from Brooklyn, Michigan, was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Their 25-year-old passenger, also of Brooklyn, was hospitalized in critical condition.

According to the sheriff’s office, all occupants were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol are also not believed to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
