NFL announces Detroit Lions’ NFC Divisional Round time and date

DETROIT (WILX) – The Detroit Lions earned the NFC’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in this year’s postseason, and therefore Detroit did not know who it would host in its Divisional Round matchup until Sunday night.

The Lions will play the Washington Commanders Saturday, Jan 18 at 8:00 p.m. on FOX. Former Michigan State standout basketball player and Lansing native Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson is part owner of Washington and will certainly be invested in the matchup.

A year removed from hosting two playoff games for the first Lions’ playoff home games since the 1990s, the Lions will host Washington. With a win Saturday night, the Lions would also host the NFC Championship game on Sunday, Jan. 26th.
