TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Nearly two years after a tornado hit the Point Place neighborhood of Toledo, one woman says she can’t afford to make repairs.
The home of Lynne Myrice looks similar to the way it looked in June of 2023 after it was hit by a tornado. Her carport remains a shambles.
Myrice said she has lived in the house at the corner of 104th and 285th Streets in Toledo the past 12 years. That includes when an EF-2 ripped across her section of town June 15, 2023.
Myrice explained her insurance money covered the cleanup of fallen trees, but she was not left with enough cash to fix her house.
“The funding, the little bit that there was from the city. We didn’t get any kind of FEMA cause we didn’t have enough houses that got the kind of damage that I got,” said Myrice. “And then, I got to worry about with my medicine and stuff, being able to afford it. I can’t do it.”
Now, Myrice said she’s simply trying to get her damaged carport torn down.
