PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTVG) – A motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Lucas County Saturday, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:47 p.m. on South River Road (State Route 295) at South Berkey Southern Road in Providence Township.
An 18-year-old woman was driving northeast on South River Road, approaching the intersection with South Berkey Southern Road.
Officials say David A. Sheller, 67, of McClure, Ohio, was driving a motorcycle southwest on South River Road, approaching the same intersection.
The 18-year-old tried to turn left onto South Berkey Southern Road and pulled into Shellar’s path, according to OSHP.
Sheller was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
The other driver was treated on scene for minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for approximately two hours but has since been reopened.
Troopers say Sheller was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to check twice when turning and remain vigilant for motorcycles.
