MONCLOVA, Ohio (WTVG) – The Monclova Township Fire Department has announced it has received a grant to help increase its staffing.
The $1,013,046 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant will allow MTFD to hire three additional full-time firefighters.
“We are incredibly grateful to FEMA for recognizing the critical need for increased staffing within our department,” said Fire Chief Matthew P. Homik. “This grant will enable us to enhance our ability to respond promptly and effectively to fires, medical emergencies, and other hazardous situations.”
MTFD says the additional firefighters will be strategically assigned to each shift to ensure optimal coverage 24/7. With the increased staffing, the department says it will be better equipped to:
- Reduce response times
- Quicker response times can significantly impact the outcome of emergencies
- Enhance service capabilities
- A larger team allows for more efficiency
- Improve public safety
- A stronger fire department contributes to a safer community.
MTFD is one of 11 SAFER Grant recipients in the State of Ohio.
