Mom’s House opens 2nd location in partnership with The Pregnancy Center

Savannah Martin, executive director of The Pregnancy Center, says the collaboration addresses the challenges many young families face.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Mom’s House of Toledo opened a second location Friday as part of a new collaboration with The Pregnancy Center, aiming to expand support services for young mothers and families in the area.

The new facility, located in central Toledo, is the result of a strengthened partnership between Mom’s House and The Pregnancy Center. Savannah Martin, executive director of The Pregnancy Center, said the collaboration addresses the challenges many young families face.

“We know that for a lot of families, the sustainable path to parenthood is really rocky,” Martin said. “It’s not well lit, it’s not well funded, it’s not well paved, and that’s what this partnership is about.”

The two organizations have worked together for years, but Martin said the partnership deepened in 2017 with the creation of a joint application process.

This allowed expectant mothers to apply for services at Mom’s House during their ultrasound appointments, increasing their chances of accessing support shortly after giving birth.

However, the joint system also dramatically increased the demand for services at Mom’s House, causing its waitlist to grow significantly. The new facility, located next door to The Pregnancy Center, is designed to accommodate more families and alleviate some of that pressure.

“This second location is about creating more space for these families,” Martin said.

The Pregnancy Center, which has served the community for 40 years, continues to expand its outreach. Organizers said Friday’s opening marks a significant step toward a more coordinated, accessible support system for young parents in Toledo.
