Markas Walker and Marquise Walker were reindicted in August 2024 after a second victim in the shooting died.
TOLEDO, Ohio — One of two suspects in a May 2024 south Toledo shooting that turned into a double homicide has been sentenced to prison, according to court records.
A Lucas County judge sentenced Markas Walker on Monday to 22 to 30 years in prison after pleading no contest to two involuntary manslaughter charges in the shooting that killed Marshawn Robinson, 17, and Teryaun Perrin, 25. Markas Walker also pleaded no contest to two counts of firearm specification.
Markas Walker had previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. Those charges were dropped by the prosecutor following his no contest plea.
Markas Walker was charged alongside Marquise Walker. According to court records, Marquise Walker entered a plea of no contest on April 16 to two counts of murder after previously pleaded not guilty. He was also sentenced on Monday, though the nature of his sentencing was not immediately available in court documents.
Police said Markas Walker and Marquise Walker shot the victims in the 1400 block of Beecham Street on May 31, 2024. Robinson died of his injuries the same day he was shot. Perrin died of his injuries on Aug. 17.
Markas Walker was arrested by US Marshals on June 13 for the shooting, while it wasn’t until August that Marquise Walker was arrested.
