TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on charges of aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault and operating a vehicle under the influence after a crash involving a Toledo Police vehicle on March 22.
According to a press release from TPD officials, a TPD vehicle was driving north on Upton near Wychwood with its emergency lights and siren on around 2 a.m. on March 22. At the same time, a vehicle driven by Shantril Sanders, 44, was driving south on Upton.
According to the press release, Sanders did not yield the right-of-way to the TPD vehicle, leading to a crash.
Both vehicles were left disabled. Two officers and another passenger of the TPD vehicle, along with Sanders, were taken to Toledo Hospital.
A Lucas County grand jury indicted Sanders on June 10.
