Man indicted for allegedly shooting into Toledo bar

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Lucas County grand jury indicted a man who police say open fired into a Toledo bar.

The grand jury indicted Michael Thomas, 40, of Toledo, on Wednesday on a slew of charges including three counts of Felonious Assault, with firearms and repeat violent offender specifications, along with Tampering with Evidence and other weapons charges.

Toledo Police said officers were called to the area of Geneva and Arlington for a shooting around 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 17. Despite not finding anything at first, they said an officer who stayed in the area saw a man begin shooting into Crox Bar with a rifle. No one was hit by the gunfire.

TPD said an officer shot their gun at Thomas, but that he was never struck. Thomas then allegedly took off from the scene and officers found him near the intersection of South Ave. and the Anthony Wayne Trail.

The department initially said the officer who fired his weapon did not have a body camera on at the time, but later said investigators found it was in fact on. So far part of that footage has been released, which can be found in the videos at the link here.
