Thomas Wilson, 47, was found not guilty by reason of insanity to attempted murder and felonious assault earlier this month, after stabbing a man and a woman in June.
TOLEDO, Ohio — A man was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the stabbing of two people inside a home in east Toledo in June received a court order Tuesday for the crime.
According to court records, 47-year-old Thomas Wilson was referred to the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center on Sept. 16 for an evaluation to determine if he was subject to being hospitalized or institutionalized.
The ruling was delivered Tuesday, with Wilson receiving a court order to be committed to a behavioral health facility for a maximum of 11 years.
Wilson was found not guilty by reason of insanity to one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault. He was found competent to stand trial on Sept. 12 and entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
Police responded to a home in the 200 block of Steel Street around 5:30 a.m. on June 25 for a check safety call.
Police said when crews arrived, a female was heard saying she had been stabbed. According to police, the door was cracked and officers made entry into the home, where they found a 42-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds.
Police said a 34-year-old man attempted to intervene during the incident and was also stabbed multiple times in the chest and sustained defensive wounds to his hands.
According to TPD, the woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
