SANDUSKY, Ohio (WTVG) – A Sandusky woman was found dead in her own home and her boyfriend has been charged with murder.
Investigators have not yet released the name of the victim or how she died but they have arrested her boyfriend.
Body camera footage of the suspect running from state troopers has been released. The footage shows state troopers rolling up to Toldrick Griffin who was pulled off on the side of the road having car trouble.
“Where did you leave, from where are you coming?” a trooper can be heard asking in the footage.
The trooper checked the 19-year-old for weapons and then Griffin ran away.
Investigators did not know why he ran at the time.
After using a drone, authorities located Griffin on Cleveland Road hiding behind a barn.
Lt. Chris Denny said paperwork in the car led law enforcement back to a home on Perry Street. Officers found the door unlocked and upon entering, they found the victim.
“They found a victim deceased on a bed,” Lt. Denny said.
Jonathan Hart said it was early Monday morning when police arrived at the victim’s home.
“I was washing dishes and I see the State Highway Patrol pull up over there. Then I see two officers get out of the car, so I knew something had happened,” Hart said.
Hart said he saw detectives going door to door trying to piece together what happened.
“About none or 10 o’clock, they pull the body out after they did all the examining and everything,” Hart said.
Lt. Denny said Griffin is from Georgia.
“Upon talking to him, he did confess that he and the victim got into a type of argument which could or could not be physical, but they got into an argument before he left the residence,” Lt. Denny said.
Lt. Denny later confirmed that the relation between the suspect and the victim is that they were dating.
Police have not released a motive for the crime yet.
