TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Luken T. Boyle Kindness Room inside Central Catholic High School is a safe place for students to show kindness and feel loved. It is a place where students can use crafts to show someone else they care.
The Yark Automotive Group and 13 Action News are giving the kindness room a helping hand.
In 2017, Luken died suddenly. But, through his legacy, students have a place to turn when they want to use crafts to show someone they care. The room has impacted hundreds of Central Catholic students over the years.
“We have our own little place inside our little school that we can go to help other people and have comfort when we need it,” junior Aiden Westfall said.
When students have a bad day, they can go there.
“I wrote notes and people wrote notes to me and I can say like if I had a bad day and I look at my locker, just seeing the notes really just helps me feel even better,” junior Sabriah Greer said.
“It’s definitely been a huge thing here at Central Catholic. Especially to those who are struggling and we’re also working on clubs so we could do stuff in here so everyone can feel included and feel like they have a safe place to go to and it’s just a great place and my favorite place around the school,” junior Izzy Acevedo said.
This student-favorite is about to get some more funding. 13 Action News and the Yark Automotive Group teamed up to present the kindness room with a check for $1,300.
