TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Lucas County Children Services has announced it is offering virtual training for adults who are interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
LCCS says there will be two training opportunities available. The first session begins on Jan. 24 and the second will begin on Feb. 7.
The training consists of courses that can be completed at your own pace as well as scheduled, instructor-led courses. Click here to see the schedule of winter training sessions.
According to LCCS, the following are the qualifications to become a foster or adoptive parent:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Participate in the free training. All caretaking adults in the household must attend
- Must demonstrate a source of income sufficient to care for yourself
- Can own or rent a home or apartment with at least two bedrooms. Your home must pass a safety inspection
- All adults in the home must provide references and pass a background check
- Can be married, single or in a relationship
