Jupmode celebrates one year on Monroe Street with community party

Employees at Saturday’s event showed customers how they make their shirts.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Jupmode marked an important milestone on Saturday, celebrating one year at its Monroe Street location. The anniversary was commemorated with a party for customers. Jupmode moved from their longtime location on Adams Street last September.

The Toledo-based apparel company welcomed the community with giveaways, free food, and a behind-the-scenes look at how its products are made.

“We’re celebrating one year that we’ve been in our building on Monroe,” said owner John Amato. “We renovated this building that had been empty for a number of years. We needed the extra space for our growth that we’ve been experiencing, and so this is our opportunity to give back to our customers who’ve been so good to us.”

Visitors had the chance to screen print their own shirts, tour the production floor, and see embroidery machines in action. “You can actually move the squeegee, see what the process is like and how cool it is to make your own shirt,” Amato said.

On the salesfloor, customers could shop from bargain bins of the store’s many designs. The mass-produced designs on the floor represent only a fraction of the company’s business. Amato estimates that 90% of their income is from their custom printing service.

Jupmode’s original location was 11,000 sq ft. The Monroe Street location represented a substantial expansion into the 27,000-square-foot building. Amato says the change hasn’t come without challenges, but the company is settling in. “

We truly believe that you will do better in Toledo,” he said. “And we’re very proud.”
