TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – An inmate briefly evaded custody during a court appearance Thursday.
Around 11:30 a.m., a call went out for an officer injured on the 500 block of N. Erie St.
There were multiple law enforcement and medical crews on the scene, but all had cleared out by 12:15 p.m.
According to officials, an unnamed male inmate and another woman in court tried to run out of the courtroom.
The woman tried to hide in a dumpster in the administrative parking lot, and the suspect was apprehended.
One deputy was injured in the pursuit, though it appears to be minor.
The woman and the suspect were taken to the hospital for observation.
