TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo Area Bicyclists (TAB) will launch a campaign to combat distracted driving following the death of Roseann Peiffer, a local cyclist who died after being hit by a distracted driver.
The Toledo Safer Roads Initiative will launch at this year’s Maumee Area River Ride (MARR) on Saturday, August 9 at Buffalo Rock Brewing Company in Waterville.
TAB says the initiative will honor Peiffer, raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving, advocate for stronger local and state policies and educate drivers on responsible driving habits.
The 2025 MARR ride will be a rally for safer roads, according to TAB.
This year, there will be signs placed along the route and an increased police presence.
The ride is open to cyclists of all skill levels. For more information, visit MARR.
